Arlington National Cemetery

The service for our beloved son-in-law, SSG Jason Russell Arnette, was held Friday, May 18, 2007, at Arlington National Cemetery. Jason died on April 1 from wounds received when an IED exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. About 35 family members and friends joined us in the administration building for the presentation of Jason's final medals, the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. I will never forget the look of profound sadness and loss on my daughter's face, silent tears falling, as General Eric S… Continue

I think it's more likely that the move Bush will make is to put us in Iran. That would force severe insecurity upon the election. Then, we end up with another Republicrat. If it's McCain, we might have a chance at avoiding the WW3 or police state of which you speak.
Canada is perty. I know a lot of people that just moved down from there, too.

Actually, I've always wanted to go to Canada. I think you are wise to be prepared, just in case. :-)
I'll send you a private message later about the family comment.
I am so happy to be in contact with you again!!

Then you note the similarities between G'Kar and Worf -- both warrior born, but of priestly inclination (something that could also be said of Alyt Neroon!). Too bad we don't seem to have people like that in the real world. Wouldn't that be a scary thought?

Oh Corry, I thank you for telling me about your Jason, and I'm so sorry too, to hear of his death.
I am a political activist yet also a spiritual person - I pray that God/Goddess/All That Is helps you and your family recover from this loss to the extent that's possible. And thank you for doing the peace/impeachment work you are doing.
blessings,
Kim

Hi Corry;
Apologies for not having written back sooner. But, as for B5 analogies, I think Rove is a wonderful stand-in for Morden; the current Russians for the Drazi, and Londo gives the Slovakians/Romanians good representation. And, what can be said about Edgars, and his monologues with Garibaldi? I'm still looking forward, tho, to your shared specifics.
CHeers!

Subject: Soldier in Iraq Resists the Occupation
Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2007 07:18:58 -0700 (PDT)

>Yesterday, June 19, 26 year old SPC Eli Israel put himself at great personal risk by making the courageous decision to refuse further participation in the U.S. occupation of Iraq. Eli told his commanding officer and sergeants that he will no longer be a combatant in this illegal, unjustified war. Eli believes that the U.S. government used the attacks of September 11, 2001 as a pretense to invade Iraq and that "we are now violating the people of this country (Iraq) in ways that we would never accept on our own soil." Eli is stationed at Camp Victory in Baghdad with JVB Bravo Company, 1-149 Infantry of the Kentucky Army National Guard. This soldier's decision to refuse orders puts him at great risk, especially because he is in Iraq, isolated from legal assistance and other support. The following is a message that Eli sent yesterday to a friend back home:

>"I have told them that I will no longer play a 'combat role' in this conflict or 'protect corporate representatives,' and they have taken this as 'violating a direct order.' I may be in jail or worse in the next 24 hours.

>Please rally whoever you can, call whoever you can, bring as much attention to this as you can. I have no doubt that the military will bury me and hide the whole situation if they can. I'm in big trouble. I'm in the middle of Iraq, surrounded by people who are not on my side. Please help me. Please contact whoever you can, and tell them who I am, so I don't 'disappear.'"

Eli is taking an incredible risk by refusing orders in Iraq and will
most likely be court martialed. Please help him by contacting his
Senator and requesting that he take any steps necessary to support and
protect this soldier and ensure that the Army respects his rights and
does not illegally retaliate against him.
