My letter published (5/18) re: Bush "appeasement" remark in Israel

Too bad they did not run my sentence "the world will be a better place when Bush is gone". ~ Monique. ~

Playing to fears

It may take two generations to undo the damage President Bush has done with his politics of fear and destruction ("Bush 'appeasement' remark in Israel draws Obama's fire," May 16). When Bush ties appeasers of the Nazis to those who would negotiate with terrorists and radicals, I think about the many innocent Ira… Continue

Peace signs are not enough

Today I had a viceral reaction to a comment from one of my peace group member as we had ended our monthly "vigil" ( can we call a vigil an event where people carry protest signs, even if signs read "stop the war" , "no war on Iran" etc...? for me a "vigil" is a meeting of people holding lit candles in a silent protest, but what do I know?)

I was told that I "should" not carry my usual sign "Impeach Bush/Cheney" on one side, and "Honk to Impeach" on the other side in a Peace event. Well

Going to DC on July 22 and 23 and back to Philly with Cindy's caravan

I will be going to DC with friends on Sunday July 22, meet with Cindy Sheehan and the gang already there. Not too sure about exactly what will be happening but I will go to a dinner in honor of Vets ( Iraq and WW2) - since my father died at war (WW2), I will honor him also.

Then Monday we are headed to Conyers' office. Cannot wait. Back to Philly in PM - part of Cindy's caravan.

Then Tuesday: Philadelphia will never be the same. I want to hear HONKS and MORE HONKS... to be follo

Monique,
MY thanks and admiration for ALL that you do!!! You seem to target exactly what is needed at the right times! Wishing you the best in Philly, protesting Pelosi at her book signing. Keep up your courageous, hard work, but be protective of your well-being, as well.
Best!
Pat

Money Bomb For The Peace Mom August 6th!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUi-oIEARVQ

“At the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends,” Martin Luther King Jr.
Nancy Pelosi was entrusted with the responsibility of ending the war and took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The war rages on and Nancy has refused to hold those accountable for this immoral war based on lies. Cindy for Congress is asking the country to stand up against injustice and stand with Cindy Sheehan again on August 6th.

August 6th is Hiroshima Day. Hiroshima is a vivid example of the potential destruction US Foreign policy can bring to people all around the world. The USA is the only country to ever have used a Nuclear weapon in battle. It's time to stop. We must hold the administration that led us into an unjust immoral war based on lies accountable. You don't have to live in the 8th District of California to see that Nancy Pelosi is not interested in PEACE and you have a stake in Cindy’s race for Congress! Send a message to Nancy Pelosi that she was wrong to take impeachment off the table and continue to fund BushCo’s war! Support Cindy Sheehan for Congress in her run against Nancy Pelosi in the 8th district of California!
August 3rd is also the third anniversary of the day Cindy Sheehan first sat down in the ditch outside of George W. Bush’s Crawford, Texas ranch to get him to answer the question, “For what noble cause,” did he send her son Casey to die in Iraq!
Stand with Cindy again on August 6th!

August 6th can be the beginning of a shift in paradigm from policies of fear, murder and destruction toward a consciousness that fosters policies of trade, sovereignty, self-determination, cooperation and peace.
Let’s make August 6th a day to let Nancy Pelosi know that we, as a nation are serious about peace and holding those accountable who do not stand with us.
You don't have to live in the 8th District of California to see that Nancy Pelosi is not interested in PEACE or ACCOUNTABILITY and you have a stake in Cindy’s race for Congress! The nation is affected by Nancy Pelosi’s actions and the nation can send Nancy a message by contributing to Cindy Sheehan for Congress on August 6th.
Let’s money bomb the PEACE MOM, Cindy Sheehan on August 6th.

Monique,
Your activism is inspiring!
Re your return post to me... Do you mean that a Philly labour group is having an event May 1? Consider asking someone from that group to contact ASAP Admin@PledgeToImpeach.ORG ... It's possible that--due to insufficient numbers committing to a May 1 strike for impeachment / strike for peace (Pledge To Impeach has been working on this tactic for 4 yrs. and has "Pledges" from individuals but has NOT had endorsements / cooperation from the biggest Impeach and Peace *groups* nor labour unions) in solidarity with the Pacific longshoremen union chapters May 1 strike--PTI may call off our participation, as we have a policy of only going forward (asking sacrifices of our Pledgers) when there is security in numbers. A final decision by PTI has not been made.
Even IF the impeachment window closes without the citizenry having been convinced of the danger to this democracy without their taking meaningful action to force impeachment, myriad groups (especially labour) should work in solidarity to stave off future crises. So, *possibly* the Philly labour group would like to check out http://PledgeToImpeach.ORG and dialogue with the founder. I understand that they *may* be part of a union hierarchy and not acting solo--plus that you are an archivist not necessarily a member--but just thought I'd give this suggestion for your consideration.
Peace,
Pat

Monique,
You are an incredible patriot from all I see here plus on your other website!
Please read my post about the MAY 1st strike!
If you agree (please feel free to comment!), let everyone you know become aware... THIS is our (last?) chance--for impeachment, for ending the occupation of Iraq, AT LEAST for forcing our topics into the presidential campaigns!
Defending Freedom through National Solidarity!

Hi Monique: I think your post on the Letters to Conyers discussion had a n error -- or else somebody else did. The post says Obama didn't vote on the FISA thing?
But he did vote against it. Hllary didn't vote.
Maybe I've mixed up two votes?

Hi Monique! Wondering if Main Line Impeach meets on a regular basis and if so, can you provide me with some info. I'm working on impeachment over here in NJ, but my dad lives in Chester County and is a constituent of Joe Sestak. He recently sent Sestak a pretty strong letter regarding impeachment. Sestak's response is over at my website, also just posted on afterdowningstreet. If you have a meeting or are going to continue lobbying him, you might want to take a look and see if there are any remarks Sestak made in the letter from which you can build your case. I'm trying to keep track of quotes and responses from members of Congress so we can fine tune to their individual hang-ups over impeachment.

Anyway, tried to find a website for Main Line Impeach, but couldn't find one. If you can give me some info. I can pass on to my dad that would be great. Maybe he'll be able to join you. You can respond through A28 of at:
